How long does the drive actually take?
The direct run from Edinburgh Airport to a New Town or West End hotel is roughly 20 to 25 minutes outside peak hours, using the A8 Glasgow Road and then either Corstorphine Road or the city bypass depending on where you are staying. Between 07:30 and 09:30, and again from 16:00 to 18:30, allow 35 to 45 minutes: the Newbridge and Gogar roundabouts carry commuter traffic and the tram works along Princes Street reduce lanes through the centre. Old Town addresses near the Royal Mile, the Grassmarket or Cowgate usually add another five to ten minutes, because the final approach is on narrow setted streets with restricted access.
Which hotels can a car actually reach?
Most New Town, West End and Haymarket hotels have a forecourt or a legal loading bay directly outside, so we set down at the door with your luggage. Old Town properties vary: several sit on pedestrianised or permit-only streets where no vehicle may stop, and the nearest legal set-down can be a short walk away. We check your specific address before the day rather than discovering it on arrival, and if a door drop is impossible we tell you in advance and agree the nearest point together. Your chauffeur carries the cases to reception where the street allows it.
