The Steps, Timeline & Costs

The process: ① both partners submit the M10 marriage notice form to the registrar of the district where you'll marry — minimum 29 days before, maximum 3 months (do it at ~10 weeks); ② include passports, birth certificates and, if previously married, divorce/death documentation — non-English documents need certified translations; ③ collect the Marriage Schedule in person within 7 days of the ceremony; ④ marry — celebrant and two witnesses aged 16+ (we've witnessed more than once); ⑤ the signed schedule returns to the registrar, and certified copies (£10 each — order three) follow.
