Scotland is the home of golf and every serious golfer dreams of it: St Andrews Old Course (the original — ballot or advance booking needed; the town itself is golf heaven with seven courses), Carnoustie (the toughest Open venue), Gleneagles (three championship courses plus five-star resort — Ryder Cup 2014), Turnberry (Ailsa course — dramatic coastal), Muirfield, Royal Troon, and hidden gems (Cruden Bay, North Berwick, Kingsbarns). England adds Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham, Sunningdale. The logistics matter: tee times book months ahead for famous courses (we advise timing and the Old Course ballot system), clubs travel in the Alphard boot, and non-golfing family members get their own program while you play.
