The Whisky Regions

Scotland has five whisky regions, each with character: Speyside (half of all Scottish distilleries — Macallan, Glenfiddich, Glenlivet — smooth and sherried), Islay (peaty smoky drams — Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Lagavulin — requires ferry or flight), Highland (diverse — Glenmorangie, Dalmore, Oban), Lowland (lighter style near Edinburgh — Glenkinchie), and Campbeltown (small revival region). The critical practical point: whisky tasting means you cannot drive. A private chauffeur transforms the trip — visit 2-3 distilleries a day, taste everything, and travel between them in Alphard comfort. Practical: we book distillery tours ahead (popular ones fill), arrange lunch between visits, and can add whisky shops for bottle purchases (luggage space in the Alphard).
