The Nine-Hour Window

Invergordon sits on the Cromarty Firth, about 40 minutes north of Inverness. A typical call is 08:00 to 17:00, which gives roughly nine hours ashore. Our standard Loch Ness route: leave the quayside by 08:30, reach Urquhart Castle around 09:45 before the coach crowds arrive, spend an hour at the castle and the loch shore, continue along the A82 for the classic Loch Ness views, stop at Inverness for lunch and the River Ness, then return to the ship by 15:30. That leaves 90 minutes of buffer before the all aboard time. The distances are short but the roads are single carriageway in places, so the buffer matters more than the sightseeing list.

Why the Return Time Is Guaranteed

The single fear of every cruise passenger is missing the ship.
