Four Terminals, Not One Port

Southampton operates Ocean Terminal, Mayflower Terminal, City Cruise Terminal and Horizon Cruise Terminal. They are spread around the docks and driving between two of them can take 15 to 20 minutes through dock gates with security checks. Your terminal is printed on your cruise ticket and it can differ from a previous sailing with the same line, so we ask for the ticket rather than assuming. Dock access requires the vehicle to pass a gate check, which is routine but adds time on busy Saturdays when several ships turn around at once. We plan pickups and drop offs to the specific terminal and gate, and we build extra time into Saturday transfers in the summer.

Luggage Reality

Cruise luggage is the biggest packing of any holiday: formal nights, a fortnight of clothes, and often a second bag bought during the trip. A seven seat MPV carries five or six passengers comfortably but not five or six passengers plus eight large cases, so we ask for numbers and sizes at quotation and arrange a second vehicle where needed rather than discovering it at the terminal. Practical notes: label cases with your cabin number before arrival because they are collected outside the terminal and delivered to the cabin; keep medication, documents and one change of clothes in hand luggage since cases can arrive hours later; and allow time for the queue on turnaround Saturdays.
