The Route And The Timing

Stonehenge is about 50 minutes from Southampton and Bath about 90 minutes, with roughly an hour between them, so the loop works cleanly. The order matters: Stonehenge first, arriving at opening or soon after, because the coaches build through the morning and the light for photographs is better early. Allow 90 minutes there including the shuttle from the visitor centre. Then drive to Bath for lunch and the Roman Baths, allowing two hours, with the Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge as short stops. Return is about 90 minutes. That is a full day requiring roughly ten hours ashore, which suits a turnaround day or a long call better than a short one.

Tickets, Crowds And The Alternative

Stonehenge requires a timed ticket booked in advance and it genuinely sells out in July and August, so tell us your date as early as possible. The Roman Baths also use timed entry in summer. If your call is too short for both, the strongest single choice is usually Salisbury: the cathedral has the tallest spire in Britain and one of the four surviving original copies of Magna Carta, it is only 35 minutes from the port, and it pairs with Stonehenge comfortably in half a day.
