What A Belfast Call Reaches
The Giants Causeway is 70 to 80 minutes north of Belfast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns formed by ancient volcanic activity. The visitor centre sits above and a shuttle bus runs down to the stones, or you can walk it in 15 minutes. The Causeway Coastal Route passing Carrickfergus Castle and the Glens of Antrim is scenic in itself, and Carrick a Rede rope bridge and the Dark Hedges, the beech avenue used as the Kingsroad in Game of Thrones, are both close by. In the city, Titanic Belfast stands on the slipway where the ship was built and is a strong option in bad weather or on a short call.

Practical points. A Causeway day is a full day: 80 minutes each way plus two to three hours at the site and any coastal stops, so it needs about eight usable hours and it does not combine well with Titanic Belfast in a short call. The Causeway is exposed and wet underfoot, and the walk down and back up is the physical demand. The Dark Hedges has no parking and is best as a short stop early or late.
