The realistic version
Bath in the morning for the Roman Baths and the Crescent, then north to Castle Combe and Bibury in the afternoon. Two villages, not five.
The distances
Bath to Bibury is an hour. Between Cotswold villages is fifteen to thirty minutes each. The driving adds up faster than people expect.
Better as two days
On the ten-day loop these get separate treatment — Cotswolds and Stratford one day, Windsor and Bath the next. Neither feels rushed.
How long the drive really takes
Map estimates in the Highlands are typically a third optimistic. Single-track roads mean constant pulling in to pass, and in summer add motorhomes: a two-hour leg is closer to three. We plan on real times, which is why our days look shorter on paper and actually finish.
The rhythm of stops
We stop roughly every ninety minutes. Some are viewpoints, some are simply because someone wants a coffee or a toilet. On some Highland stretches there is nothing for forty miles, so these stops are planned rather than improvised.
Booking and changes
A £180 deposit secures the dates and the balance is settled before departure. Changes more than 30 days out are usually free; inside 30 days it depends on whether we can refill the slot. The deposit is non-refundable, stated before you pay. If we are the ones who cannot deliver, we refund in full including the deposit.
