The colleges
See the hall and cathedral at Christ Church (the inspiration for the Harry Potter dining hall), the Divinity School at the Bodleian Library, and photograph the Radcliffe Camera. Those three make a full morning.
Crowds
Oxford gets more day-trippers than Cambridge, and its centre is smaller. Before 10am and after 4pm are noticeably different experiences. High Street at midday in summer is very crowded.
Oxford or Cambridge
The two have more in common than not. Cambridge has the River Cam and the Backs, with punting and more pleasant strolling; Oxford is grander, with larger-scale architecture. With only one day, Oxford is closer to London; on a round-Britain route heading north, Cambridge is on the way.
University visits
Many Chinese families come to look at universities. Open days have fixed dates, require registration and fill up fast. On other days you can visit public areas but won't see accommodation or teaching rooms. If needed, we can plan a day around your list of colleges.
Combining with the Cotswolds
Oxford sits on the south-eastern edge of the Cotswolds. Burford is 30 minutes away, Bibury 45. Colleges in the morning, lunch in Burford, two villages in the afternoon — this combination beats doing either on its own.
How long each driving day really is
Most legs run two to three hours of actual driving, broken by stops. The longest single day on the ten-day loop is around four hours, and we break it with a proper lunch rather than a service station. We stop roughly every ninety minutes — some are viewpoints, some are simply because someone wants a coffee. Highland roads need extra allowance: what the map calls two hours is closer to three.
What the vehicle actually holds
The Alphard and Vellfire seat seven, but seven seats and seven suitcases are different problems. With the rear row up, the boot takes roughly four 26-inch cases. That is why we say four guests with full luggage — for five or more with checked bags we arrange a second vehicle rather than promising a squeeze that does not work.
What we will not do
We will not push you into shops or restaurants that pay commission, add items you did not ask for and charge for them, or tell you a hotel is good if we have not used it. If your plan does not fit the days, or self-drive would genuinely be better value for you, or a small-group tour suits you more — we will say so, even when it costs us the booking.
The rhythm of stops
We stop roughly every ninety minutes. Some are viewpoints, some are simply because someone wants a coffee or a toilet. On some Highland stretches there is nothing for forty miles, so these stops are planned rather than improvised.
What language support actually means
Our chauffeur-guides speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English, from first enquiry to final drop-off. In Edinburgh you can manage in English. On a single-track Highland road when the weather turns, having someone explain the options in your own language is a different kind of comfort.

Booking and changes
A 20% deposit secures the dates and the balance is settled before departure. Changes more than 30 days out are usually free; inside 30 days it depends on whether we can refill the slot. The deposit is non-refundable, stated before you pay. If we are the ones who cannot deliver, we refund in full including the deposit.
