What to See
The State Apartments, St George's Chapel and the Changing of the Guard. Two and a half hours lets you see all three without rushing. Tickets around £30. The scale and decoration of the State Apartments are the highlight — a completely different style from Scotland's castles.

On set days at 11am, not every day. Always check that day's schedule before planning around it — many people get caught out here. Cancelled in rain.
Closures
St George's Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays for worship. The State Apartments close when the castle hosts official events. Both are announced in advance, but not very far ahead.
The Town
Windsor town itself is worth a half-hour stroll, with swans by the river and Eton College across the water. Wander round after the castle — no need to set aside extra time.
How We Plan It
About an hour from London and twenty minutes from Heathrow. Many guests visit Windsor on their departure day on the way to the airport — handy if your flight is in the afternoon or evening.
How long each driving day really is
Most legs run two to three hours of actual driving, broken by stops. The longest single day on the ten-day loop is around four hours, and we break it with a proper lunch rather than a service station. We stop roughly every ninety minutes — some are viewpoints, some are simply because someone wants a coffee. Highland roads need extra allowance: what the map calls two hours is closer to three.
What the vehicle actually holds
The Alphard and Vellfire seat seven, but seven seats and seven suitcases are different problems. With the rear row up, the boot takes roughly four 26-inch cases. That is why we say four guests with full luggage — for five or more with checked bags we arrange a second vehicle rather than promising a squeeze that does not work.
What we will not do
We will not push you into shops or restaurants that pay commission, add items you did not ask for and charge for them, or tell you a hotel is good if we have not used it. If your plan does not fit the days, or self-drive would genuinely be better value for you, or a small-group tour suits you more — we will say so, even when it costs us the booking.
How long the drive really takes
Map estimates in the Highlands are typically a third optimistic. Single-track roads mean constant pulling in to pass, and in summer add motorhomes: a two-hour leg is closer to three. We plan on real times, which is why our days look shorter on paper and actually finish.
What language support actually means
Our chauffeur-guides speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English, from first enquiry to final drop-off. In Edinburgh you can manage in English. On a single-track Highland road when the weather turns, having someone explain the options in your own language is a different kind of comfort.
How weather changes the day
Four seasons in a day is not a joke here. We do not cancel for rain — we reorder. If Quiraing is clouded in we go to Neist Point and come back the next morning. That flexibility is the practical value of a private vehicle.
