The roads
Many are single track with stone walls on both sides and no verge. Passing requires reversing. In summer, expect to do this several times an hour.
Parking
Village car parks fill by mid-morning and most are pay-by-app with poor signal. This is where a driver earns their keep — drop at the door, park elsewhere.
Timing
Add forty percent to any journey estimate between June and September. The map does not account for a tractor.
What the vehicle actually holds
The Alphard and Vellfire seat seven, but seven seats and seven suitcases are different problems. With the rear row up, the boot takes about four 26-inch cases — hence four guests with full luggage. Five or more with checked bags means a second vehicle, and we say so before you book rather than at the kerb.
