The Roman Baths
The main bath is remarkably intact and the audio guide is genuinely good. Ninety minutes covers it. Book a timed slot; walk-ups queue in summer.
The city
Georgian, honey-coloured and compact. The Royal Crescent, the Circus and Pulteney Bridge are all within fifteen minutes' walk of each other.
Timing
Half a day covers Bath properly. On the ten-day loop we usually pair it with Windsor or the Cotswolds rather than giving it a full day.
How long the drive really takes
Map estimates in the Highlands are typically a third optimistic. Single-track roads mean constant pulling in to pass, and in summer add motorhomes: a two-hour leg is closer to three. We plan on real times, which is why our days look shorter on paper and actually finish.
The rhythm of stops
We stop roughly every ninety minutes. Some are viewpoints, some are simply because someone wants a coffee or a toilet. On some Highland stretches there is nothing for forty miles, so these stops are planned rather than improvised.
What we will not do
We do not push you into shops or restaurants that pay commission — we take none. We do not add unrequested items and charge for them, or recommend hotels we have not used. If your plan does not fit the days, or self-drive suits you better, we say so even when it costs us the booking.
What language support actually means
Our chauffeur-guides speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English, from first enquiry to final drop-off. In Edinburgh you can manage in English. On a single-track Highland road when the weather turns, having someone explain the options in your own language is a different kind of comfort.
