What you actually get
A viewing path at a distance, a good visitor centre, and a shuttle bus. The stones are roped off. Ninety minutes including the centre.
Why people are disappointed
Photographs use long lenses and low angles that exaggerate the scale. In person it is a circle of stones in a field, and that is either enough or it is not.
Our view
If you are passing between Bath and London, stop. If it requires a two-hour detour, we would rather spend that time in the Cotswolds and will say so.
The rhythm of stops
We stop roughly every ninety minutes. Some are viewpoints, some are simply because someone wants a coffee or a toilet. On some Highland stretches there is nothing for forty miles, so these stops are planned rather than improvised.
What we will not do
We do not push you into shops or restaurants that pay commission — we take none. We do not add unrequested items and charge for them, or recommend hotels we have not used. If your plan does not fit the days, or self-drive suits you better, we say so even when it costs us the booking.
What language support actually means
Our chauffeur-guides speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English, from first enquiry to final drop-off. In Edinburgh you can manage in English. On a single-track Highland road when the weather turns, having someone explain the options in your own language is a different kind of comfort.
Booking and changes
A £180 deposit secures the dates and the balance is settled before departure. Changes more than 30 days out are usually free; inside 30 days it depends on whether we can refill the slot. The deposit is non-refundable, stated before you pay. If we are the ones who cannot deliver, we refund in full including the deposit.
