Riding the Train — Tickets & Timetable

The Jacobite runs Fort William ↔ Mallaig (84 miles round trip, ~6 hours) from late March to October, with morning and afternoon departures in peak summer. Book via West Coast Railways (westcoastrailways.co.uk) — standard return from ~£65, first class ~£98. Tickets for July-August sell out 2-3 months ahead. Sit on the LEFT side heading to Mallaig for the viaduct view. The train crosses the 格伦芬南高架桥（Glenfinnan Viaduct）about 30 minutes after leaving Fort William.

Photographing the Train on the Viaduct

You can't photograph the viaduct while riding the train — so the classic shot requires standing on the hillside viewpoint instead. From the Glenfinnan car park it's a 15-20 minute uphill walk to the viewpoint; arrive 30-40 minutes before the train passes (typically ~10:45 and ~15:00 in summer, times shift by season).
