The Glenfinnan Viaduct
Genuinely used for the Hogwarts Express. The steam train crossing is the shot everyone wants. It runs twice a day in season, roughly 10:45 and 15:00, though times shift each year and we check the current timetable. The viewpoint is fifteen minutes uphill from the visitor centre — arrive thirty minutes before the train.
Glencoe
Hagrid's hut stood near Clachaig in Glen Coe. Nothing of the set remains, but the landscape is unmistakably the one on screen. Even without the film connection Glencoe earns the stop — it is Scotland's most dramatic glen.
Loch Shiel
The loch beside Glenfinnan doubled for the Black Lake. You see it from the viaduct viewpoint, so one stop covers both. At the head of the loch stands the Glenfinnan Monument, marking the start of the Jacobite rising.
What is not real
Edinburgh has several Harry Potter origin claims — a particular café, a street, a graveyard. J.K. Rowling did write in Edinburgh, but the idea that a specific street inspired Diagon Alley is mostly a story added later. We will tell you that.
Fitting it in
Glenfinnan is on the western route from Edinburgh to Skye, so it costs no detour. If you want the steam train you plan the day around the timetable rather than the other way round.
每日实际车程有几长
多数路段实际车程两至三个钟，中间有停留。十日环岛最长那日大约四个钟，我们会用一顿正经午餐分隔开，而不是高速公路服务区。大约每九十分钟停一次——有些是观景点，有些纯粹因为有人想饮杯咖啡。高地公路要特别留意：地图估两个钟，实际接近三个钟。
车辆实际载得多少
Toyota Alphard 和 Vellfire 是七座，但七个座位和七件行李是两回事。第三排立起那阵，尾箱大约放到四件 26 吋行李箱。所以我们说「最多四位客人连全套行李」——五位或以上有托运行李，我们会安排第二架车，不会勉强塞。

停留节奏
我们大约每九十分钟停一次。有些是观景点，有些纯粹因为有人想饮杯咖啡或者去洗手间。高地部分路段四十英里没有任何设施，所以这些停留点是预先规划的，不是即兴。
