The car (fixed)
The 10-day loop is £4,845 and the 6-day loop £2,805. That is the price for the whole car, not per person. It covers the vehicle, fuel, all parking and tolls, and a trilingual English, Cantonese and Mandarin chauffeur-guide. There is no mileage charge and no fuel surcharge at the end.
Accommodation
Four-star hotels booked through us are £150 per person per night. Ten days means nine nights: £5,400 for two rooms. Six days means five nights: £3,000 for two rooms. This is the biggest variable in the total cost.
Admissions
Approximate admission prices for the main sights: Edinburgh Castle about £20, Windsor Castle about £30, the Roman Baths in Bath about £26, York Minster about £16, King's College Cambridge about £12. Over ten days, admissions usually total £120–180 per person.
Meals
Eating in Britain: breakfast is usually included in the room rate; lunch is £12–20 per person; dinner £25–45 per person, more at fine-dining restaurants. Over ten days, meals come to about £400–600 per person.
The total, and per person
For four guests in two rooms over ten days, with mid-range hotels and the usual admissions, most groups total between £12,000 and £14,000 — about £3,300 each when shared four ways. For two guests the car costs the same but only one room is needed: about £8,800 in total, roughly £4,400 per person.
How group size affects the per-person cost
The car is a fixed cost, so the more people, the cheaper per head; accommodation works the other way, with more people needing more rooms. Overall, the per-person cost for a group of four is usually 20–30% lower than for two. If you are thinking of inviting friends along, the numbers are on your side.
How long the drive really takes
Map estimates in the Highlands are typically a third optimistic. Single-track roads mean constant pulling in to pass, and in summer add motorhomes: a two-hour leg is closer to three. We plan on real times, which is why our days look shorter on paper and actually finish.
Booking and changes
A 20% deposit secures the dates and the balance is settled before departure. Changes more than 30 days out are usually free; inside 30 days it depends on whether we can refill the slot. The deposit is non-refundable, stated before you pay. If we are the ones who cannot deliver, we refund in full including the deposit.
What the vehicle actually holds
The Alphard and Vellfire seat seven, but seven seats and seven suitcases are different problems. With the rear row up, the boot takes about four 26-inch cases — hence four guests with full luggage. Five or more with checked bags means a second vehicle, and we say so before you book rather than at the kerb.
