Transport
Chauffeured: £6,400 for the vehicle over ten days. Self-drive: £600–900 rental plus fuel (£150–250), parking (£15–30 a day in city centres) and insurance excess. Rail: Edinburgh to London is £50–90 one way booked ahead, up to three times that on the day.
Accommodation
Mid-range hotels run £150–250 per room per night. Edinburgh triples during the August festivals and Hogmanay. Highland accommodation is limited in summer — book late and you either have no room or a long detour to one.
Food
A pub lunch is £15–20 a head; a proper dinner £35–60; afternoon tea £30–45. Highland options are limited and rural kitchens often close by 8pm, so eat earlier. Ten days of British food is a test for Asian travellers — cities have good Chinese restaurants, the Highlands do not.
Attractions
Edinburgh Castle around £20, Urquhart Castle £14, Windsor £30, the Roman Baths £25, distillery tours £15–25. The British Museum, National Gallery and National Museum of Scotland are free. Over ten days, tickets typically total £120–200 per person.
A realistic ten-day total
Four people, chauffeured, two mid-range rooms: £6,400 vehicle + £3,600 accommodation + roughly £2,400 food + £600 tickets = about £13,000, or £3,250 each excluding flights. That is the typical figure we see — neither the cheapest nor the most expensive.
Where to save
Travel in May or September: accommodation drops 30–40% and you still get fourteen hours of daylight. Use the free museums. Eat lunch in pubs and spend on dinner. Some attractions offer combination tickets. But do not economise on the driving — Highland roads are not where you learn to drive on the left.

为什么路线这么排
地理决定次序，和他对著干只会浪费日数。由爱丁堡出发，合理动线是南下经约克、曼彻斯特，到达剑桥和伦敦，再经湖区北返。全程不走回头路，每日车程控制在四个钟内，而且最后返到爱丁堡——同一个机场离境，不用买单程机票返伦敦。
