Skye in winter is transformed: the Old Man of Storr rock pinnacle against snow-covered Trotternish ridge is one of Scotland great winter sights, the Quiraing landslip looks unearthly in winter light, Neist Point lighthouse dramatic against winter seas, Portree colourful harbour cosy with winter lights, and roads nearly empty. Trade-offs: short daylight (plan tightly), some attractions reduced hours, weather can close mountain passes briefly (we monitor). Winter Skye 2-Day Structure
Day 1: early Edinburgh departure (7am — dark start), north via Glencoe (winter valley drama en route — double experience), Fort William lunch, arrive Skye via bridge late afternoon, Portree evening (harbour lights, cosy dinner).
