Spend the short winter daylight in the Highlands, then both of Scotland's big Christmas markets in one evening. We drive you through the Trossachs and Loch Lubnaig to Rannoch Moor and Glencoe — the road from the James Bond film Skyfall — then down to Glasgow's Christmas market as the lights come on, and on to Edinburgh's Christmas Market in Princes Street Gardens. One vehicle, one driver-guide, up to six guests, £480 for the whole car.
Part of our Christmas & New Year in Scotland
The route
- 08:00 · Edinburgh pickup — we collect you from your hotel or student accommodation.
- Trossachs woollen mill, Kilmahog — tartan, cashmere and Christmas shopping, and often Highland cows next door. Check the shop's winter hours before travelling.
- Loch Lubnaig — a quiet loch with mountains reflected on still winter mornings.
- Rannoch Moor and Glencoe — Buachaille Etive Mòr, the Three Sisters, and the turn-off to Glen Etive, the single-track road used in Skyfall. We arrive around midday, in the best of the light.
- Back via Loch Lomond — leaving the Highlands before dark (sunset is about 15:45 in December).
- About 16:30 · Glasgow Christmas market — around an hour and a half among the stalls in the city centre.
- About 19:00 · Edinburgh's Christmas Market — an hour's drive east, then the market, big wheel and lights in Princes Street Gardens. We drop you at your hotel when you are ready, usually by 21:00.
The route bends to the weather: on icy days we check Traffic Scotland the evening before and adjust. If you prefer only one market, tell us and we finish earlier.
