The easy route
From Dunsapie Loch on the east side, the climb is twenty minutes on a clear path. Most guests are surprised how manageable it is from this side.
The scenic route
From Holyrood up the Salisbury Crags first, then across. Takes an hour and gives you the city from two angles.
Conditions
The summit is exposed and the wind is stronger than it looks from below. The path is uneven; trainers are fine in dry weather, less so after rain.
How long the drive really takes
Map estimates in the Highlands are typically a third optimistic. Single-track roads mean constant pulling in to pass, and in summer add motorhomes: a two-hour leg is closer to three. We plan on real times, which is why our days look shorter on paper and actually finish.
The rhythm of stops
We stop roughly every ninety minutes. Some are viewpoints, some are simply because someone wants a coffee or a toilet. On some Highland stretches there is nothing for forty miles, so these stops are planned rather than improvised.
What we will not do
We do not push you into shops or restaurants that pay commission — we take none. We do not add unrequested items and charge for them, or recommend hotels we have not used. If your plan does not fit the days, or self-drive suits you better, we say so even when it costs us the booking.
Booking and changes
A £180 deposit secures the dates and the balance is settled before departure. Changes more than 30 days out are usually free; inside 30 days it depends on whether we can refill the slot. The deposit is non-refundable, stated before you pay. If we are the ones who cannot deliver, we refund in full including the deposit.
