Booking
Tickets are timed and cheaper online. Summer slots sell out days ahead. Turning up without a booking in August usually means a two-hour wait or no entry.
Best time
First slot at 9:30. The esplanade is empty, the light on the city is good, and you are out before the crowds arrive.
What to see inside
The Honours of Scotland, St Margaret's Chapel, the Great Hall and the view from the ramparts. Ninety minutes covers it properly; three hours is more than it needs.
Booking and changes
A £180 deposit secures the dates and the balance is settled before departure. Changes more than 30 days out are usually free; inside 30 days it depends on whether we can refill the slot. The deposit is non-refundable, stated before you pay. If we are the ones who cannot deliver, we refund in full including the deposit.
What language support actually means
Our chauffeur-guides speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English, from first enquiry to final drop-off. In Edinburgh you can manage in English. On a single-track Highland road when the weather turns, having someone explain the options in your own language is a different kind of comfort.
