What it is
A loop from Inverness around the northern coast and back, about 516 miles. The real draw is the northwest — Applecross, Assynt and Torridon, where the landforms are unlike anywhere else in Britain.
How long it really takes
Three days is a blur, five is workable, seven lets you actually stop. The Bealach na Bà pass at Applecross, one of Britain's steepest roads, cannot be rushed regardless of what the map calculates.
Accommodation is the constraint
Beds in the far northwest are limited and book out months ahead in summer. This is one of the few parts of Scotland where advance planning is genuinely essential — not for better rooms, but for any room.
The roads
Mostly single track with passing places. In summer it fills with motorhomes, which are slow and struggle to reverse on single-track sections. Add thirty percent to any estimate.
Whether it suits you
If you have already seen the Highlands and Skye, want wilder country and have five days or more, it earns its place. On a first Scottish trip, Glencoe and Skye give more for the time. We will advise on your actual situation rather than pushing the longer trip.

多数路段实际车程两至三个钟，中间有停留。十日环岛最长那日大约四个钟，我们会用一顿正经午餐分隔开，而不是高速公路服务区。大约每九十分钟停一次——有些是观景点，有些纯粹因为有人想饮杯咖啡。高地公路要特别留意：地图估两个钟，实际接近三个钟。
车辆实际载得多少
Toyota Alphard 和 Vellfire 是七座，但七个座位和七件行李是两回事。第三排立起那阵，尾箱大约放到四件 26 吋行李箱。所以我们说「最多四位客人连全套行李」——五位或以上有托运行李，我们会安排第二架车，不会勉强塞。

实际车程要几耐
地图估的时间在高地通常乐观三成。单线道要不停靠哪会车，夏天再加露营车，两个钟的路段实际接近三个钟。我们排行程用真实时间，所以我们的日程纸面上看起来短些——但不会做不完。

应该带什么
有帽的防水外套胜过雨伞(风会吹烂把遮)、分层衣物胜过一件厚褛、有抓地力的步行鞋。夏天最高十七至二十度、晚上跌到十度、高地更冻。这些不是客套提醒，是每个月都有客人低估的嘢。
