Starting north means the Highlands hit while you are fresh and the light still feels new. Most guests who have done both say they preferred Edinburgh first.

Compare total flight cost including any internal leg, and check which arrival gives you a full first day rather than a 9pm landing. That decides it more reliably than any itinerary argument.
The rhythm of stops
