The reality
On some Highland stretches there is nothing for forty miles. Public toilets in villages may be seasonal or closed.
Where we stop
Visitor centres, larger petrol stations and hotel lobbies where we have an arrangement. We plan these into the route rather than improvise.
With children or elderly guests
Tell us at booking and we shorten the gaps between stops. It changes the route slightly and makes the day considerably easier.
How long the drive really takes
Map estimates in the Highlands are typically a third optimistic. Single-track roads mean constant pulling in to pass, and in summer add motorhomes: a two-hour leg is closer to three. We plan on real times, which is why our days look shorter on paper and actually finish.
