Emergency care
A&E treatment is provided regardless of nationality. Follow-up care and non-urgent treatment may be charged to overseas visitors.
Pharmacies
Boots and independent chemists handle minor issues and can advise without an appointment. Most towns have one; Highland villages may not.
Insurance
Essential. Travel insurance covering medical repatriation matters more in remote areas where the nearest hospital may be two hours away.
How long the drive really takes
Map estimates in the Highlands are typically a third optimistic. Single-track roads mean constant pulling in to pass, and in summer add motorhomes: a two-hour leg is closer to three. We plan on real times, which is why our days look shorter on paper and actually finish.
What we will not do
We do not push you into shops or restaurants that pay commission — we take none. We do not add unrequested items and charge for them, or recommend hotels we have not used. If your plan does not fit the days, or self-drive suits you better, we say so even when it costs us the booking.
