Scotland's main winter graduations in 2026 run from mid-November to early December: University of Edinburgh 18–27 November, St Andrews 1–2 December, Glasgow 30 November–10 December and Heriot-Watt 5, 7 and 8 December. Families flying in from Hong Kong, Taiwan or mainland China should book flights and transport early, and allow for short, cold days — especially when travelling with grandparents.

What should families flying from Asia plan for?
- Arrive two or three days early. Jet lag from Hong Kong, Taipei or mainland China is real, and gowns, tickets and photo sessions often need collecting the day before.
- Expect short, cold days. In late November and December daylight is roughly eight hours or less; outdoor photos look best around midday.
- Book hotels early. Graduation weeks fill city-centre rooms, and Edinburgh's Christmas (from 14 November) adds to demand.
- Plan ceremony-day transport. Venues have little or no parking, and taxis are in demand after each ceremony.
Airport pickup, ceremony-day car and a Highland day — from £850 for the whole vehicle.
Book on WhatsApp / WeChatHow do we make it easy for elderly parents?
Graduation days involve a lot of standing, queuing and walking on cobbles in the cold. A private car helps: door-to-door drop-off as close to the venue as permitted, a warm car to wait in between the ceremony and photos, and room for coats, flowers and gifts. Our Toyota Alphard has a sliding door and a low step. Tell us about mobility needs when booking. For more ideas, see our guide to touring Scotland with elderly parents and children.
What is in the graduation family package?
Our graduation family package starts from £850 for the whole vehicle (Toyota Alphard, up to 4 guests):
- Edinburgh Airport arrival pickup
- A car with driver for 4 hours on ceremony day — hotel, venue, photo spots and a celebration meal
- One private Highland day tour (Glencoe or Loch Ness) after the ceremony
For St Andrews ceremonies, a day car from Edinburgh to St Andrews and back is quoted on request. Your driver speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin, so parents can communicate easily. Book on WhatsApp +44 7598 576685 or WeChat ID megaspace218.
Can we combine graduation with a short Scotland trip?
Yes — many families add a few days. Popular options are a Highland day to Glencoe and Loch Ness, an evening tour of Edinburgh's Christmas lights, or a multi-day Isle of Skye trip if the weather allows. Keep the schedule light for older parents: one long day out, then a rest day, works well in winter.
